Background:

 Bangladesh with a population of 180 million faces many challenges including the drug that has become an issue due to its geographical location, poverty, and illiteracy. Although there is no precise figure of the drug dependent people but is estimated around 7.0 million people mostly youths are dependent to some form of drugs, and the increased trend among all kinds of people is alarming. Comparing to this situation there is still very few treatment & rehabilitation facilities in this country. In the public, the private sector few facilities with desire standards are inadequate to demand of drug treatment service.HILLS DRUG TREATMENT & Rehabilitation center has been one of the pioneers in the aspect of detection and treatment of drug users. It has been established in 2016 located in a spacious building encompassing situated in a peaceful and natural location near the lake, Uttara. Hills extended its program to many other dimensions including treatment and rehabilitation of drug users. Staffs of hills have vast experience in which some specific mentioned areas.Hills treatment center to start with placed 10 beds in the center with provision for expansion up to 20 beds. Centers are equipped with all modern facilities for taking care and treatment of the drug dependents; THERE is ADEQUATE STAFF TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE CLIENTS, SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR RECREATION, ARRANGEMENT FOR VARIOUS IN-DOOR SPORTS AND GAMES, LIBRARY AND PRAYER ROOMS ARE AVAILABLE ETC. In a nutshell, the facilities are SUFFICIENT ENOUGH to meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of the clients. The prime objective hills is to provide recovery and rehabilitation of drug users in the personal, social and family life and to reduce/control the addictive behavior among the drug dependent clients by providing a comprehensive treatment.For hills, 2018 has been a successful one with a total number of 93 in received treatment at hills. Among them 59 clients completed 3 months of treatment program. 9 clients were dropped out due to various reasons. 11 clients had received referral service for further treatment activities. Total number of review clients: 13; total number of follow up clients: 32.

During this year total 93 medical assessment had been done. Total 88 withdrawal management and 11 were referred to other places for further treatment activities. Total 27 psychiatrist treatments has been given, total diagnosis 36 and total 144 were provided general healthcare service on daily basis.

An addict can only recover so much within a rehab behind closed doors with the help of counselors, and most importantly his fellow recovering friends who act as a mirror to every thoughts, emotions, and action. However, a crucial part lies in this ability to reach out to the mother center, sponsor and most importantly receive the utmost support from his family.

Here in hills treatment center, we try to achieve this integration through individual, group, family counseling and also family education which plays a pivotal role in changing behavior and stability. Individual, group, family counseling, and also family education is undertaken as supportive therapy for dependents undergoing withdrawal as well during the treatment period. Total number of 198 individual counseling, total number of 48 group counseling, total number of 63 family counseling and total 06 family education service took place during this year. Individual counseling had been increased.
